Young Musicians

We want to build on the success of our Young Musician's Concerts at the Athenaeum which we have run every year since September 2001. We would therefore like to hear of any young musicians interested in appearing in future concerts. We would also be pleased to hear from any Music Teachers who would like to be involved in helping with future events, perhaps in the role of Musical Director. More generally, we would be happy to consider broadening the scope of the Concert to include other types of performances, for example by Primary School classes. Suggestions and request for details should be made to the Secretary of the Lions Club on 0845 8339843.

Fundraising

We are open to approaches from other organisations for joint fundraising opportunities.

We can provide and staff barbeques; a Candy Floss machine (Flossie); a Teddy Bear Tombola; Quiz Nights; and indoor Horse Racing events (for more details on the latter see separate page 'Race Nights').

We regularly support a number of local school & village fêtes with Flossie and the Teddies as well as the annual Garison Fireworks display at which we also deploy our barbeque skills.

SMALLBROOK MEADOWS MAINTENANCE

From time to time the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust(WWT) appeals for volunteers to form ad hoc working parties to help maintain the Smallbrook meadows Nature Reserve to the South East of Warminster's Lake Pleasure Grounds.

The jobs involved are moderately 'physical' in nature involving as they do the cutting and removal of vegetation etc. Given the nature of the terrain one can also get a little wet ! But, in addition to making a contribution to the wider community, volunteers stand to gain some interesting insights into the ecology of the meadows.

The dates on which the WWT is currently planning to undertake such work are:

23 Nov; 26 Jan; 22 Feb; 22 Mar (all Saturdays). The work takes place between 1030 & 1530 but volunteers are not necessarily expected to stay throughout the period.

Volunteers should contact the WWT on 01380 725670.
