Chris Jones
We have agreed terms with Chris Jones for 2008. Chris is 19 and is a pace bowler and capable middle order batsmen currently playing for Linsmore in the LJ Hooker 1st Grade competition in Northern New South Wales. He currently bowls first change in a very strong bowling line-up which has won the Premiership the past four seasons. He has performed very well since making his first Grade debut, regularly being at the top of the bowling averages, with an average of 7-8. Chris has previously represented the North Coast at U16 and U17 levels. He is an ACB Level 1 coach and has experience coaching junior teams, in fact he coached a junior team to winning a grand final. This will be the first time Chris has played cricket in the UK and is looking to gain some useful experience and a different lifestyle and wants to become a better cricketer. He would like to return to Australia after a season and play a higher standard of cricket courtesy of his improvement over the summer in the UK. His bowling coach has given me this reference; "I know Chris through my role as Head Coach of the Lismore District Cricket Association. Over the past few seasons I have had the pleasure to coach Chris at Under 19's level and played with him in a few senior representative matches. I have also had brief stints as a personal coach with Chris.
I have always found Chris to be an honest, reliable, committed, enthusiastic young man. I know he is very excited about the prospect of playing in England and having spent 2 seasons as a club pro in England myself I know this will be a great opportunity for him. Chris is a hardworking and reliable fast bowler and with more hard work on his batting could turn into a capable bowling all-rounder.
It is my pleasure to recommend Chris to your club and I have no doubt that he will be a good choice and positive influence around the club.
All my best for the season. I look forward to hearing how things go.
Kind Regards,
Dominic Marsh"
Chris also follows the English Premiership and follows Liverpool. During his stay here he would like to visit Anfield. I am positive that Chris is going to be a major asset to our club this season, both on and off the field. He will be arriving around the middle of April. When he arrives I would like all of you to ensure that you all introduce yourself to him and make him feel at home within our club.
Chris has mentioned that he would like to start making contact with a few people via e mail. Should any of you like to contact Chris he can be contacted at jonesy.mr_cricket@hotmail.com (updated March 08)
