Under 11s v Shrivenham (away) – 18/05/2008 Wootton Bassett: 101 for 2 wickets from 20 overs Jack Twine 26, Tom Fieldsend 34* Shrivenham: 31 for 7 wickets from 20 overs Wootton Bassett won by 70 runs Charanveer Chahal 3-0-4-2, Matt Harvey-Samuel 3-2-4-1, Scott Twine 3-1-6-1, Dan Comer 3-3-0-0 Having lost the toss and put in to bat on a wet grassy track, the early loss of Chris Dyer brought Tom Fieldsend together with Jack Twine. A partnership just short of the 100 was finally ended with Jack being run out on the 2nd to last ball. This was a fantastic effort on a very difficult batting track and with some unpredictable bowling a great display of concentration. The bowlers were sent out with a mandate to just keep it on the stumps and let the ball do the work. This was handsomely achieved by the Matt and Dan's opening 6 over spell which conceded just a handful of runs. The pressure this put on Shrivenham which culminated in 2 excellent run outs. Dan Comer hitting the bowler's end stumps from Square leg to remove the opener and Scott Twine putting the ball in the keepers gloves for another. All the other bowlers added to the overall bowling performance and carried on their good work from the previous week. The fielding was kept tight and the whole team kept their tight hold throughout. I look forward to seeing more of the same in two weeks time. Well done all - a real team performance and thanks to all the Under 9s who were fantastic! |
