Relocation
22nd January 2007
Dear Member,
Ref. WBSA Relocation
As you know the Association submitted planning applications at the beginning of January. In the communication to you we made reference to the need for our members to show support for the plans but didn’t really provide you with advice and help on how to go about that.
The planning applications have now been logged by NWDC, with reference numbers as shown below. Comments regards the applications can be provided either via letter quoting the relevant reference number to Planning Services, NWDC, Monkton Park, Chippenham, Wilts, SN15 1ER, or online at the NWDC website (www.northwilts.gov.uk) with the relevant links to the applications also shown.

It’s important that our comments and support are made known regards the applications in order that the councillors can give due consideration to community views. Although standard text or petitions do count, it demonstrates far greater support when letters/emails are individual. We have therefore tried to capture below some of the key benefits of the relocation, so that you can perhaps include in your letter those elements that mean the most to you.
Sports Association Secure Major Gerard Buxton’s legacy making it viable and fit for the town as it is today Will support the clubs needs today and their future development plans Opportunity for facilities to be made available for wider community use Improved parking and social facilities that meet health and safety requirements and encourage families to attend and become involved
Football club Sufficient pitches for all the club teams on one site Will bring together the juniors, youth boys and girls, and senior mens All year round training will be available, affordable, and support club development Provides the opportunity to develop the club further, and offer playing and coaching time to more of the community Safe and accessible facilities - facilities that meet health and safety requirements, are attractive to use and more likely to encourage children to stay active
Tennis Club Double the courts, and all floodlit – to cater for the demand at peak times and to enable more people (all ages) to be able to play tennis Appropriate changing facilities – dedicated to tennis users Indoor courts – to enhance the coaching programme and enable people to hire for use for year round play, irrespective of weather Supports the clubs development plans to provide playing and coaching opportunity to more of the community
Cricket Club More pitches – enabling more young people to have the opportunity to play cricket Practice nets – supporting the ongoing skill development, getting new players into the game and supporting other clubs New pavilion – one that meets health and safety and child protection criteria Additional changing – so that more teams can play and train at the same time
Running Club Sufficient changing rooms for the club when other sports are being played A facility that can be proudly used for start/finish of club events Much improved social environment
Thanks for your support, and together we’re sure we will see our plans come to fruition.
Kind Regards,
WBSA Relocation Committee
