Education, Skills & Learning

The Themes under this Pillar are:
Schools and colleges
Access to IT
Training for employment
Adult Education
District Councillor currently assigned by WWDC as its focal point: Keith Humphries

A few years ago Learning4Warminster was established as a Theme Group under this Pillar. Unfortunately no others have come forward to join the two people who originally developed this idea. See below for more details and a link to the L4W website.

If you are interested in this Group or in a sub-group addressing one or more of the above Themes please make contact using the mail Form at the bottom of the LH Panel on this site. The Partnership will maintain a list of those expressing interest and will get in touch to facilitate the formation of a Group as and when sufficient interest is shown.

Learning4Warminster

This initiative was conceived by the Warminster & Villages Community Partnership (WVCP) and the Warminster & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce (WDCTC) as a local life-long learning network and forum for the people of the Warminster Area. As a community asset, it is open to all as both a resource and as a framework for capturing ideas and contributions related to education, skills and learning. It is currently seen as:

- a channel for making the people of the Warminster Area aware of learning opportunities and associated funding support and encouraging them to learn new skills, fulfil their potential and improve the quality of their lives at home and at work.

- complementing the learning and training 'Push' by the Learning & Skills Council (LSC) and similar bodies by providing some local 'Pull'. An example of this was the L4W event on 24 February 2004 at the Assembly Hall designed to help local businesses get some of the £16M currently available for Basic Skills and NVQ Level 2 training through the LSC's Free 2 Learn programme.

- ensuring that learning opportunities are presented and 'marketed' in the area in a way that is tailored to people's needs and perspectives e.g. by avoiding 'organisation speak' and otherwise presenting things in an easy-to-grasp manner.

If you are interested in this Group please make contact using the mail Form at the bottom of the LH Panel on this site. Further details and information about Life Long Learning can be found on the L4W website (see Link below).
