Community Partnerships
The idea behind Community Partnerships was introduced as part of the Local Government Act 2000. This requires Local Government to encourage the formation of and work with such Partnerships so that local people, clubs, societies, and organisations of all kinds - whether voluntary or otherwise - can generate and take forward ideas to improve the Cultural, Economic, Environmental and Social life of their area. Initially, these ideas will need to be harmonised with existing Plans and Strategies set in train prior to 2000 (e.g. in our area the West Wiltshire District Plan). However, over time the intention is that the ideas and projects generated under the Community Strategy will inform all other local government planning. |
