Summer 2005: The WVCP has published a Plan for the Warminster Community Area reflecting the views and ideas offered at our various meetings over the last few years. Copies are available from the Warminster Library, Assembly Rooms, Athenaeum & Dewey House. We are currently in the process of establishing a Warminster & Villages Development Trust (in the form of a Company Limited by Guarantee) to give us the necessary legal status to manage the implementation of the Plan.
Autumn 2005: Creation of the Warminster & Villages Development Trust (WVDT). In view of the West Wiltshire District Council's (WWDC's) decision to withdraw from funding the Tourist Information Office in the central Car Park, the Partnership Committee decided to take action to preserve an Information Office facility for the Warminster Area. This necessitated the formation of a Development Trust - a Company Limited by Guarantee - to provide an approporiate legal entity to cover the employment of staff and business transactions. As a result the WVDT now runs the Warminster Information Centre, renting the building from the WWDC and running the WIC on a commercial basis but with profits being used to support other community projects - such as those aspired to in the Community Plan - rather than going to shareholders. The WIC employs 4 part-time staff but is heavily dependent on a team of volunteers. If you would like to help out please contact the centre on 01985 218548. If you would like more information on the WVDT - the Trust is keen to recruit volunteer members to support the Board of Directors (and indeed additional/replacement Directors) - please use the e-mail link on the left hand side of this page.
WVCP Open Meeting 21st October 2006 The Partnership Committee held an open meeting at the Athenaeum on Saturday 21st October from 9am to 1pm. There was a briefing on progress made by the Partnership over the last year or so - such as identifying possible projects to take forward the Community Plan - see below - and short presentations by those involved with a number of local initiatives such as the Town Plan (lead by the Town Council), changes to the Town Centre roads (sponsored by Wiltshire County Council); developments at the Garrison and the future of the ABRO site (SW Regional Development Agency).
