The Yews drew 2-2 with Westbury Rangers (sunday) b - side in a evenly matched game. The hurried arranged game on the small Bradley rd pitch not idea but was last resort. But both teams faired well with it and the game was sportingly played.
This was a 100% better game from last week and the Yews put together some good football. Glasson had a 15 man squad available and roll on roll of subs from both teams gave both Managers an idea what thier players were capable off. The Yews conceded a goal after a throw into the box after defending well for the first half an hr. Striker stu Green opened his account by curling in an equaliser from the corner post, before half time.
Westbury Rangers had the better of the second half and should have been three- one up. but a string of first class saves from Keeper Stu Miliken kept the Yews in the match. The Yews went ahead when Scott howse on loan from Dilton Rovers volleyed in from close range after the ball eluded the Visitors defense. The Yews Keeper was tested again and again as Westbury looked for the equaliser. and five minutes before time they levelled from a corner making it 2-2. The Yews did have a ten minute spell where they to should have put three past the westbury keeper who like miliken was alert enough to thwart Wallis's attempts at Goal.

AUGUST 30th wednesday
YEWS 6 DILTON ROVERS 1
The Yews were back in action after a two week break and hosted Dilton- Rovers at St Georges in a entertaining game. This was a good eye-opener for Glasson to see both sides of his squad for 2007. The Yews were missing Wallis, pringle, Silva ,chalmers and Gregor for this match from the victorious side that was not short of Player- bosses js Glassons first eleven. While seven of the Dilton Rovers side have signed on-loan for one season.
Dilton Rovers kicked off at a pace and the young side settled quiet quickly. this was thier third game as a team and they responded well against a strong Yews side who were kept at bay for the first 15 minutes. Once Rangers Midfield Yarek and Man of the Match Rory kelly got hold of their game things started to open and it became end to end . The Yews tested the rovers keeper first with a array of chances from Alex Makawana ,Stu Green and Lee Romain but it was the Dilton Marsh side that took the lead after a good build up and took a 18 minute goal lead. The Yews responsed with more efforts. Left back Mark Self"s Through ball found Glasson racing down the left flank who ran into the box but could only side foot the ball wide past the on coming keeper,The Yews equalized through stuart green ten minutes later.Honors were even as both sides went into the break.
The Second half with the wind in thier favour the Yews stepped up a gear and were soon pushing the visitors deep into thier own box. Rangers Midfielder Rory Kelly put the Yews ahead with a looping volley from 20 yards on 50 minutes. Stu Green grabbed his brace from a bad goal-kick that fell kindly for him five minutes later. Dilton changed things around and put together a good spell of pressure before Martin Read volleyed in a fouth for the Yews who were now controlling the game.Things then got out of hand in a incident and Diltons Scott Howse and Rangers Keeper Milikin were giving thier matching orders.Makawana took the Goalkeeping gloves for the Yews who finished off the game with two more goals ,Martin read and Rory kelly both doubling thier tally.

Artisans 6 - 1 Yews weds aug 30th
The yews continued thier friendlies with a game against Premier side The Artisans, the pitch sharing side are one of the best sunday sides in Warminster but took until the second half to waken up after a poor first half by thier standards.
Player boss Glasson had all but three of his squad available for this game and gave all his players a 45 minute run. The first half saw The Yews but out what could be near to thier first eleven and with conviction ,and a strong presence, they took on the might of the Artisans wand played some good football at times. It took the Artisans 25 minutes before they took the lead. basic mistakes at the back cost the yews a sloppy goal as they watched a quick throw in dour thier moral. Ten Minutes later after a good build up Stuart Green slotted in from close range to equalise. Both sides had chances to score before the break Polish Midfielder Jarek Filak heading over from a corner for the Yews.
The second half Glasson made six changes using up the 17 players he had available. The half was end to end with the artisans putting on the style that got them to the Premiership , while the Yews boss tweaked his squad here and there to find out exactly which members of his squad were capable of giving all for 45 minutes . The Artisans scored five, one a pen that second half, but the scoreline didnt douse the clubs spirit as thier were alot of good signs and comments about the perfomance. |

Yew tree 8-0 Sureset Rangers
 | Pic- Stuart Green - continues his run of scoring in the last 3 games
There was only one Rangers On St Georges Field today and it was not the visitors. With both teams differences aside ,both teams arrived on a rain washed pitch . The Yews Boss wanted his sides football to do the talking for him. And they were not shy about it either as they tore into the Warminster Newboys.Glasson was without seven of his players but he still put out a strong side.
The match started as the rain eased off giving st georges Fields a wet-look shine but this was soon masked by the home-sides hold on the game. Sureset were playing thier first ever game as a team and were stretched wide open by the Yews who attack in numbers and played the ball around.Alex Makawana opened the scoring on 12 minutes when he disposessed a defender in the box and hooked the ball into the net. Rangers second came from Mark wallis who grabbed the first of his hat-Trick. a thunderous volley from outside the box.Sureset settled and began to pull together.the few chances they did create were met by a well marshalled defence giving keeper Stuart Miliken not much to do. YT Rangers third came from thier Player/boss Glasson , who ran onto a jarek throughball down the left flank then jinxed making three nil on 40 minutes into the box before drilling into the bottom right corner.
The second half started in bright sunshine and the Yews hold on the game tightened . and they continued to add to thier score. Rangers fourth and fifth came from Stuart Green who continues his scoring streak, Mark wallis grabbed another two to finish off his hat-trick and scott howse on loan from Dilton Rovers grabbed the other two. final score 8-0.

JB LIONS 5 YEWS 2 Sepy 6th friendly
 | pic - Rangers starman Rory Kelly
An away game against Premier side JB Lions last night gave the Yews boss his last look at his squad. The Yews were without Jarek. Collier ,and Sanders, so it was a time to play around with his players. Jb lions were a strong side but were made to look good by a ragged yews in the first half.Winger j glassons volley straight at the keeper was the only effort from the yews that half .The Second half the Yews began to get into the game and when rory kelly was allowed space to pull out a goal from 20 yards it gave the yews a lift. Gregor could have pulled another goal back but he hooked the ball over from Romains Cross. The lions added a fourth before Alex Makawana down ward header eluded the keeper and trickled in to make it 4-2. five minutes later Rangers countered again and Stuart Green was denied the continuation of his scoring run when his shot was held by the Lions Keeper who has already saved two over attempts from close range. The Lions scored a fifth before the whistle to make it a 5-2 win for the home side.

Mid season friendlies
yews 4-5 dilton rovers
It was time to brush away the festive fat, and after six weeks of no football or training the Yews looked sheepish and our of sorts. The Yews struggled to make a bare eleven against a 17 man Dilton Rovers side ,the roll on roll off substitutes helped the visitors mentally and physicly. On a half firm half sodden pitch which held out till the 80 minute before chewing up and making it feel like u had iron on your boots, the two sides met. On loan players Kye Collier, Sam Sanders, Scott Howse and Andy Horton were now facing thier sunday team mates, The Game got off to a bright start with boths teams finding thier pattern and then settling down . The Yews had to start with ten men while Player-Coach Martin Read finished off his church duties before clambering up the St Georges banks waving his cavelry flag. just to see Sam Sanders open his Dilton Rovers account with a volley which looped over MAKWANA and to make his 17th birthday that extra special.
Dilton held thier lead till the break with the match becoming end to end with Dilton just having the edge.1-0. The Yews found themselves 3 nil down after the break and looking ragged. Something then clicked on the 60th minute and the yews Mikey Payne Volleyed in the first and five minutes later headed in his second. Dilton rallied and went 4-2 , Another good spell saw Stu Green force rangers third in and then the Yews Equalised on the 85 minute making it 4-4. Dilton Rovers however with overwhelming numbers put a a fifth past a spent Yews side and a cameo appearance from Jamie Mead
. final score 4-5
