Yew Tree Rangers 6 Royal Oak 1
Theres nothing better than feeling the buzz when u actually win a game, but the mood in the Yews dressing room was still somba, as the victorious home side took in this Goal feast .There is still alot to do, The Yews have picked up four points out of a possible 42 available so far, and from top half of the table sides . Royal oak who were sitting nicely in fouth place , respectfully took this defeat on the chin knowing they were well beaten, The scoreline does not reflect thier perfromance as they evenly matched thier hosts but were given very little space by the Yews stonewalled defence and the Returning Keeper Alex Makwana. What has revitalised the Yews, well rumours are that the Players are uneasy with their new name next season. Player Boss and todays supremo manager js Glasson has made a deal, that he will reconsider the name Real Glassionia fc if the Yews finish no lower than 10th place. Its a good bargin as the Player-boss who hits 40 This May, could quit all together if at the end of the season they fail to move out the bottom two. Some Players will find it uneasy to play umder such a unique name l.However if going on the last two perfromances and Player Boss Glasson has found his right Formation there is only going to be one outcome. Todays game highlighted what the Yews are good at .surging runs from either flanks with quick conters and in numbers, Lee Romain and Rory kelly , right and left respectfully, supplied Hitman Mikey Payne who could have grabbed a hattrick if not for the aerodynamics of the Oaks keeper.Man Mountain Mark Wallis and Stu Green formed the attacking support with creative playemaker Martin Read sitting just in front of the back four and keeping the sides shape intact. the defence was hastliy formed with Kennedy right back Portugese Da Silva and Mark Self pairing up in central defence in place of the absent Nigel Chantly and Andy Pringles who was an hr late. and the Gaffa filled in well at left back. Oyetunga John Green mike and sam sanders filled the bench.
The Pitch was again in superb condition and Referee George Hill again filled in as Referee. for the first ten minutes the ball was played aroundthe field with no major intent, both defences clearing up and forcing the play back upfield .One mistake from either side and the game would open up and thank fook for lady luck who has never been there for the Yews. Lee Romain who was having the better of the tussles on the right flank Ran onto a Read/S crossfield ball and his first time cross into the box was parried clumisly by the Oaks Keeper and Striker Stu Green poked it home from close range. This took the Oak by surprise and it didnt get any better for them as they comceded a second five minutes later later.
A good build up starting from left back Glasson found its way to wallis who powered into the box before blasting past the keeper 2-0. The Dark clouds formed again as straight away Mike Payne ran unchallenged through the defence before tucking in a low shot to make it a very nice 3-0.
The Oak were jaded but not down and they had a spell were they wasted a hatful of chances but were always suspect at the back, Number four came from a Rory Kelly free kick after wallis had been brought down, his placed shot looked to be saved but slipped out off the keepers hands and into the net . 25 minutes gone and it was 4-0 .Stu Green then sealed his brace with a stinging shot that went in off the keeper and a Oaks defender headed in a own goal from another Romain cross to take the goalfeast to six goals. Frustrations started to boil over as the half time whistle went.
The second half the Yews were forced to defend deep as the Oak pushed more players foward and they won a penalty after Kennedy fouled just outside the box( so it seemed) the penalty was dispactched home, no luck for MAKWANA who had saved his last two. This Penalty decision changed the mood of the game with gutzy tackles , wild challenges and improper vocals. This seemed to shake the Yews who had to withstand some pressure , but they were solid at the back and soaked up what the OAK could offer. The Yews attacks had wilttled away and Payne was twindling his thumbs for a while. then a confrontaion in the Yews box saw the dismissle of a Oaks player opened up the game. Rory Kelly was replaced by ses Oyetunga and soon after Martin Read was replaced by John Green. Payne was soon back into action running onto throughballs firstly from oyetunga and then two from his Gaffa, a curling shot from Payne was surperbly tipped away from goal to deny Payne his second of the game.Wallis Romain and Green all had half chances before the final whistle.. final score 6-1
