St Georges is becoming a a hard nut to crack since Glassons outift found a rich vein of form. Manager Glasson six weeks ago , set a target of 18 points from a possible 39 from the remaining games to maybe settle just above the bottom three. 13 points from thier last seven games have surpassed his waypoint and with still 18 points available it could be seventh heaven if results go thier way. Striker Mikey Payne is firing on all cylinders ands his second half brace on thursday night finished off Paulton who were quite poor, considering they had three quality players ,who caused the Yews a few problems in the middle. Stuart Green had fired the homeside ahead after ten minutes which shocked paulton into a upping thier game.. Player-Manager Glasson kept a unchanged side and had a packed bench available ,who were needed ,as there were some tired limbs out there in the second half.. Greens Goal came as Paulton were beginning to get hold of the game and they rallied and forced Makwana into some fine saves. The Yews back four were Fanatastic and played like a solid unit throughout the match. thier only mistake was in the first half when Paulton leveled things up after a melee in the box. The second half was a fierce tempremental game, frustrations boiled over and this kept stopping a very enteraining game, Midfielders Lee Romain and Henrik da Silva were replaced with the Fresh legs of Mark Wallis and Glasson. Wallis was straight into the action and only a last ditch tackle denyied him a goal with his first touch. but wallis minutes later headed a throughball to Mikey PAYne who volleyed home to put the home side ahead 2-1 and ten minutes later rory kelly was fouled outside the box and payne duly dispatched his second of the match into the top right corner.
Paulton could have brought themsleves back into the game with four missed chances in the last qtr of the match, but good defending by a team who are now looking like a unit and some snapshot shooting caused very little concern.
