COMPETITION was keen for the second annual Neville South Memorial Trophy played at the club in November with finally the Vice-captain's Team, winners of the inaugural event in 2000, being defeated by the Captain's Team.
The event, in memory of former squash section stalwart Neville South who died suddenly, after being diagnosed with cancer, in May, 2000, is fast becoming one of the highlights of the season.
Sixteen players were involved on the Friday night playing two or three games against like-standard players with total points gained by all members of the team providing the winning side.
Three games were played with American scoring up to 11 with only four of the 16 matches being decided with a 3-0 scoreline.
At the final count up the Captain's team, led by Greg Edwards finished with 344 points to defeat the Vice-captain's team, led by Ray Burrows, who ended with 327 points.
