The layout design
The layout is based on a fictional village called Bowood.
There are four large continous railway line loops crossing under and over some spectacular scenery. There is also a branchline to the maintenance depot and across the harbour.
Aswell as trains, there are moving cars in the same scale running around the whole village which gives the realism that some model railways lack.
Since the layout is built in a loft running the entire length and width of the house, it is impossible to remove the roof supports so we have tried to blend them in to the sky by painting them blue (we read somewhere of a modeller who did take the roof supports down to improve the aesthetics of his model, only to find out that the roof came down soon after !)
Bowood mainline station has 5 mainline platforms, 1 bay passenger platform and 2 parcels loading platforms. |  |

Maintenance of the old station canopies
Bowood train company have announced routine maintenance of the station canopies that have stood on the station since 1912.
