A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ASSOCIATION AND A STATEMENT OF ITS AIMS
The first minuted meeting of the body that eventually became the Association took place on 13th March 1978 when it was agreed that steps would be taken to formalise a twinning agreement with Gronau in Germany and subsequently to seek out a further partner in France.
The formal civic twinning charter between Bromsgrove and Gronau was signed, sealed and delivered in May 1980.
The twinning proved to be most successful and for the past twenty seven years annual exchange visits have been made by members of the Association and by many special interest groups such as swimmers, footballers, cyclists and choirs. Many lasting friendships have grown between host families and their guests.
In July 1999 a formal friendship link document was signed in Bromsgrove Council Chamber between Bromsgrove and the district of Saint Sauveur Lendelin in Normandy, France. Exchange visits have been established on an annual basis and many members of the Association have also visited friends made on the organised trips.
The Aims of the Association as set out in its Constitution are:-
(a) to promote and foster friendship and understanding between the people of Bromsgrove District, those of Gronau in the Federal Republic of Germany, those of the district of Saint Sauveur Lendelin in the Republic of France, and those of other towns with which the Association may later form links
(b) To encourage visits by Individuals and groups to and from linked towns, particularly by children and young people, and the development of personal contacts, and by so doing to broaden the mutual understanding of the cultural, recreational, educational and commercial activities of the linked towns.
(c) to organise fund-raising activities to foster the aims of the Association

Die Association - eine Zusammenfassung
Das erste Protokol des Partnerschaftskomitees wurde am 13. März 1978 geschrieben. Darin wurde festgelegt, die Partnerschaft mit Gronau zu formalisieren und evt. später noch eine französische hinzu zufügen. Die erste Sitzung der Partnerschaft Association fand am 2.July 1980 statt.
Die offizielle Partnerschafts Urkunde zwischen Bromsgrove and Gronau wurde im Mai 1980 unterschrieben.
Diese Partnerschaft hat sich über den letzten 20 Jahren als sehr erfoigreich erwiesen. Jährlich finden Besuche zwischen den Mitgliedern der Asssociation und interessierten Gruppen statt, z.B.Schwimmer, Fussballer, Radfahrer and Musikvereine. Viele langjährige Freundschaften haben sich zwischen Gastgebern und Gästen gebildet.
Im Juli 1999 wurde eine offizielle Freundschaftsverbindung mit der Gemeinde Saint Sauveur Lendelin in der Normandy, Frankreich unterzeichnet. Komitee Besuche zwischen dieser freundschaftlichen Verbindung finden auf jährlicher Basis statt, aber es gibt auch viele private Besuche.
Das Ziel der Partnerschaft ist in der Verfassung zusammengefasst :
a) Freundschaften und Verständigungen zu fördern und pflegen zwischen den Menschen in Gronau in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und den Gemeinden von Saint Sauveur Lendelin in der französischen Republic und evt. später zwischen noch anderen Stadten mit denen die Partnerschaft eine Freundschaft knüpfen möchte.
b) Besuche des Einzelnen und von Gruppen in der Partnerschaft zu fördern, besonders die von Kindern und Jugendlichen, Die Entwickelung des persönlichen Kontaktes zu unterstützen um die gegenseitige kulturelle, sportliche, pädagogische und kommerzielle Verbindung zu erweitern.
c) Verschiedene Aktivitäten werden von der Association jährlich unternommen um Gelder für diese Ziele zu finanzieren.

BRÈVE HISTOIRE DE L'ASSOCIATION ET EXPOSITION DE SES BUTS
La première réunion formelle de l'Association a eu lieu le 13 mars 1978. Il y a été décidé que l'on prendrait les dispositions nécessaires pour formaliser un accord de jumelage avec Gronau en Allemagne et pour ensuite rechercher un autre partenaire en France.
La charte de jumelage civique formel entre Bromsgrove et Gronau a été signée en mai 1980.
Le jumelage s'est avéré une réussite. Depuis vingt ans, des échanges ont eu lieu tous les ans entre les membres de l'Association et des visites sont organisées pour maints groupes ayant des intérêts particuliers, par exemple des nageurs, des footballeurs, des cyclistes et des membres de chorales. Nombre d'amitiés se sont forgées entre les familles hôtes et leurs invités.
En juillet 1999, un document scellant l'amitié entre Bromsgrove et le district de Saint-Sauveur Lendelin, en Normandie, France, a été signé dans la salle du Conseil municipal de Bromsgrove. Des échanges ont lieu tous les ans et nombre d'adhérents de l'Association effectuent des visites privées chez des amis rencontrés au cours des visites organisées.
Les buts de l'Association tels qu'ils sont énumères dans ses statuts sont les suivants :
a) promouvoir et encourager l'amitié et la compréhension entre les habitants de Bromsgrove District, les habitants de Gronau dans la République fédérale d'Allemagne, les habitants du district de Saint-Sauveur Lendelin dans la République française, et ceux d'autres villes avec lesquelles l'Association pourrait á l'avenir forger des liens;
b) encourager les habitants à organiser des visites privées et de groupe dans les villes avec lesquelles nous sommes jumelés et à accueillir des habitants de ces villes, surtout les enfants et les jeunes, encourager le développement de contacts entre les individus et ainsi élargir la compréhension mutuelle des activités culturelles, pédagogiques, commerciales et de loisir des villes liées;
c) organiser des activités afin de réaliser les buts de l'Association.
