60TH DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY ANNUAL OPEN FLOWER SHOW 2008

The Droitwich Spa and District Horticultural Society is proud to present its 60th Diamond Anniversary Annual Open Flower Show. To be held on the 25th August 2008, the show is one of the main events in Droitwich during the year, and regularly attracts hundreds of visitors.

During the day, the public will be treated to grand displays of flowers, fruit and vegetables, lovingly grown and nurtured by exhibitors; some of whom are seasoned competitors, while others are novices aiming for their first trophy.

Our ever-popular cakes and preserves section attracts a variety of mouthwatering delicacies, while for the more artistically inclined there are handicraft, photography and floral decoration sections. There's even something for the little ones with our popular children's classes.
Local schools have also been invited to produce a 'picture of a flower show'. All of the entries received will be on display at the Show.

During the day, top judges will be casting their eye over all the entries to decide the winners of our cups and medals, which will be presented by the mayor and her consort later in the afternoon. There will be special awards to commemorate the 60th Anniversary in certain sections.

On this very special event in the Society's history, there will be an appearance by Henry Sandon, M.B.E., of Antiques Roadshow fame.

Away from the exhibition hall, attractions include a puppet theatre, garden design exhibit, fairground organ, face-painting, a Land Army Display and much more. Tombolas, raffles and many other varied stalls are designed to keep you entertained, whilst our outdoor catering team will be on hand to provide welcome refreshments.

So bring the family and come along to the Droitwich Sports and Leisure Centre, Briar Mill on Bank Holiday Monday from 1pm, and you may even be able to pick up a bargain or two from the produce auction at the end of the afternoon. Admission to the show grounds is £1.50 for adults, just 50p for children between 5 and 15 years, and under 5s get in free!

Anyone wanting a stall at the show, or if you would like to enter one of our many classes, why not give our secretary Val Jancey a ring on 01905 778384 and she'll be happy to help with any enquiries.
