Over 58 years of gardening success
The present day society was formed over 58 years ago. The founder members included Geoff Amos (who often appeared on ITV's "Gardener's Time" and also wrote for the "Garden News" newspaper), George Crump, Harold Hatfield, Jim Holt, Berrill Inett and Hector Tulett. Prior to this there was a previous horticultural society which we know to have been in existence in the late 1800's. So, in one way or another, the town has had a horticultural society for over 100 years.
The society is run by an elected committee whose aim is to encourage the practice of horticulture and assist its members, and, in doing so, organise a wide range of activities for members and friends.
Throughout the year, there are many events taking place in the society's calendar. These range from trips to gardens across Britain, to the Annual August show, one of the biggest crowdpullers in Droitwich.
