Community Garden Appeal
The Charles Close Community Garden has benefited from a sizeable contribution from Evesham and Pershore Housing Association, and Wychavon District Council. This funding will enable the basic construction of the garden. WORK IS DUE TO START IN MID NOVEMBER. However, there is still a considerable shortfall in funding to enable the garden to be completed.
Suitable garden furniture and security lighting need to be purchased and installed, as do other security and anti vandalism measures. Benches need to puchased, as do some basic gardening tools.
ESHTA APPEAL TO LOCAL BUSINESSES FOR ANY SMALL CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY GARDEN, OR ANY OF OUR OTHER PROJECTS, EITHER BY WAY OF SUITABLE EQUIPMENT OR FINANCIAL HELP.
It is hoped to purchase some small electric scooters in the future to enable the infirm and disabled residents to access the garden easier, and also to aid mobility on day trips.
CONTRIBUTIONS CAN BE MADE BY CONTACTING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:-
Mr Ron Hickey (Treasurer) 01386 443890

ESHTA's Drive to Improve Social Facilities for Residents
Sheltered residents often spend many hours at home, unable or unwilling to venture out. There may be many reasons for this. Illness, disability, fear,or loneliness all play their part.
ESHTA is trying to encourage residents to enter into a social life, however small, in order to remove fears, reduce loneliness, and bring a little sunshine into lives that can often be dull.
ESHTA are therefore looking to improve the communal facilities at the various schemes, and are looking to residents for suggestions. For example, Charles Close is a small collection of bungalows, and residents have access to a community room. Residents have asked ESHTA to look at ways of improving this facility, allowing them to make better use of it. No doubt other schemes have ideas, but to date, the priority need appears to be the Charles Close facilities.
In order to hold more varied social events, a number of acquisotions need to be made. To pursue the idea of regular film afternoons, a video projector is required which will enable more people to see the film on a big screen. (At present, a 26" TV is used). A suitable sound system will also be needed.
A Film Society is to be formed, if the above equipment can be acquired.
To improve the regular Bingo sessions, it is hoped to purchase a small PA system and bingo machine.
Many more joint social activities can be held between sheltered schemes. However, transport needs to be laid on when such events take place. To date, this has been a barrier to such inter-scheme activities.
ALL OF THIS REQUIRES FUNDING, AND THE RESIDENTS ARE CURRNTLY ACTIVE IN ORGANISING LOCAL FUND RAISING EVENTS.
HOWEVER, TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS WITH THESE PROJECTS WILL REQUIRE DONATIONS OF MONEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT. ESHTA ARE WRITING TO LOCAL BUSINESSES IN AN EFFORT TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS.
IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE PHONE GERRY BAKER (01386 442886 ) OR RON HICKEY (01386 443890)
