Packet Radio in the Wyre Forest
Packet Radio has been around since the early 1980's, and keeps thriving no matter what the rumours say!
In this area, Packet is alive and well and there are a number of active stations. We have set up a special interest group known as WyrePak, the Wyre Forest Packet Radio Support Group, which has recently merged with the Kidderminster Repeater Group, and which meets on the third Tuesday of every other month at the Chain Wire Club. KRG-WyrePak is dedicated to supporting the local 2m repeater GB3KD, packet node/IP router and BBS GB7PZT, all run by Paula G8PZT. Have a look at the KRG-WyrePak website for further details, or drop a line to Phil G4SPZ whose packet address is G4SPZ @ GB7PZT, or e-mail KRGWyrePak@aol.com

Internet-linked Packet Nodes
Users of GB7PZT may be interested to know that several international nodes may now be accessed direct from KIDDER, thanks to the Internet gateway which operates from the Telford node. Nodes in the USA, Australia and other continents appear in the nodes table - simply log on to KIDDER and type "NODES", choose one and type "C nodename". Round trip times to the USA are faster than to some UK nodes! For further information drop a line to G8PZT @ GB7PZT. |
KRG-WyrePak Newsletter
KRG-WyrePak Newsletter is published twice a year in the Summer and Winter - to receive a complimentary copy by e-mail, please contact the Editor Richard G0EWH by Packet at G0EWH @ GB7PZT or e-mail at KRGWyrePak@aol.com If you would like to join KRG, it only costs £5 a year - please send an e-mail to the above address.

GB3KD now linked to KIDDER
It is now possible for Packet stations to connect direct to EchoLink-enabled repeater GB3KD. To do this, connect to the KIDDER Packet node on 144.850 MHz, and type "C GB3KD". You will be connected as a text-only station and will see the traffic and text message activity flowing through GB3KD. You can send and receive short text messages to stations connected via their PCs. This can be great fun, and cross-mode QSOs are possible! |
