Old Wireless Sets
Some members of the Amateur Radio Society are also interested in repairing, restoring, collecting and preserving old valved radio sets from the 'Golden Age of Wireless'. The valve 'era' ran from the 1920's up to the early 1960's and such sets can often be restored to working order.
There must be literally dozens of such old radios languishing, non-working and unwanted, in attics, sheds and garages across the District. Many are simply thrown away as old-fashioned, but why not avoid creating more landfill, and give them the chance of a new lease of life? We have access to stocks of spare valves and 'vintage' components plus the knowledge to repair most of these old radios. Most sets have little monetary value but a modest donation, perhaps to your favourite charity, can often be made.
