LADIES REPORT
Following the disappointment of the 2001/2002 season culminating in the team being relegated to Division 3 of the Worcestershire League, the Ladies did not allow themselves to be disheartened by these events. They were invited to take part in a Summer League staged at Stourport which produced some promising results, including beating their local rivals.
The new season opened with 3 friendly matches, losing the first, drawing the second and winning the last one before the league games started.
The league programme started on the 28th September with a win against the team who had been relegated with us. This started a run of 6 games without defeat taking the Ladies to the top of the Division 3. Then came the now infamous game against Stourport which saw the first defeat since the first game. The team returned to winning ways the following week only to see their top spot slip away losing to their nearest rivals just before the Christmas break.
The Ladies had almost a months lay off over the holidays following the cancellation of 2 friendly fixtures but got underway again on the 18th January against Tenbury who had inflicted the first defeat of the season. The League matches restarted the following week and the team maintained their winning streak for the remainder of the season.

The Ladies have won promotion back to the 2nd Division not only as League Champions but have also taken the Best Defensive Record Trophy. There is also a possibility that Kate McGowan has won the Top Goal Scorer as well. The Trophies will be collected by the Ladies at the Worcestershire AGM on the 12th May.
It has been a tremendous season and an all round team performance and I have to say from my point of view probably the best year since I joined almost 20 years ago.
I would like to pass on the thanks of the team to Tony Costello for turning out to umpire for us most weeks and for the time he has given since Christmas coaching.
