Welcome to our Website!
Kidderminster Tennis Club welcomes you to a site which gives you brief details of the Club, its aims and purpose. The Club was established in January 1996, working with Wyre Forest District Council to turn part of a poorly used and badly vandalised park (Baxter Gardens) into a useful recreational facility. The Council paid for the upgrading and refurbishment of two existing tennis courts, and the provision of fencing and a secure lockable building. A public meeting was held in the Town Hall to promote the development, and a small Committee under the Chairmanship of a dedicated tennis professional Ray Schuck, was established to run the Club. The Club has thrived since then, with an annual membership of around 100, and continued development of the facilities. The Club is there to serve the local community, and works hand-in-hand with Wyre Forest District Council and Hereford and Worcester LTA to promote the playing of tennis across all age groups. The Club is not primarily for the match and competition tennis player, although teams do play in the Kidderminster District League. The key purposes are to provide recreational tennis for the community and the coaching and promoting of tennis to young people. The Club coach, Jo Merrison, provides a variety of coaching session to children from 8 to 15 years, and for adults, including 'Rusty Racquet' sessions for those returning to tennis! The Club is also used in the school holidays for community courses, and to promote Sports-for-All weeks, Young Aces coaching sponsored by the LTA, and dedicated Tennis promotion sessions. If this sounds like the Club for you - a friendly environment, no pressure, coaching for you and your family - then please contact us by email. We'd be happy to talk to you further, or to send you details for joining. Our rates for the current year are very reasonable - £80 for a family, with lower rates for single adults or juniors. |
