Football in Littleton - A brief history

'The Littletons' are three villages (South Littleton, Middle Littleton and North Littleton) located South West of Evesham, Worcestershire, England, UK.
There has been a football team in 'The Littletons' from the 1890's we believe and from the early 1900's the game has been played at the Recreation Ground, South Littleton.
Littleton Football Club decided in the mid 1970's that, in order to progress, it should acquire some land and develop it's own home ground. 'Five Acres' at Pebworth Road on the outskirts of North Littleton was purchased and the task of creating a football ground began. Lots of hard work and fundraising mean that we now have excellent facilities and an ever improving pitch. Support has come from individuals, local businesses and Council grants with committee volunteers continuing to fundraise and carry out ongoing maintenance. There are still many things to do but Littleton FC are proud to be one of the few village clubs to own their own ground and facilities.
Currently the Club runs one Senior team in the Midland Combination, Division 1 and one former Youth team now playing senior football in the Stratford League Division 1. It continues an association with the several 9 to 14 year old youth teams which continue to play football at other local pitches.
With the success of the Midland Combination team, moving from Division 3 to Division 1 in succesive seasons, facilities had to be improved further before the start of the 2003/2004 sseason. Referees room was extended, new Ladies and Gents facilities, Clubroom with refreshments including a licenced bar, new team dugouts and a covered standing area. Littleton now has some of the best facilities in the area and continue to look for further improvements.
Since October 2004 we have our own website, www.littletonfc.co.uk where all fixtures, results, news etc can be found. It will develop over the coming months and constructive comments would be welcomed.

Gound improvements 2003

With promotion to Division 1 of the Midland Combination for the 2003/2004 season, considerable ground improvements were necessary to comply with Midland Comb rules.
New covered standing area, new home and visitor dugouts, pathways to and around 50% of the pitch perimeter, extended match officials changing facilities, separate ladies and gents toilets and a clubroom for refreshments. These facilities required a considerable commitment from the committee and have proved to be very costly.
Financing these improvements is proving to be more difficult than originally anticipated as Football Foundation grants have been refused. Littleton appealed at a Tribunal hearing and an Independant Adjudicators ruling supported the decision not to pay anything towards these improvements.
In the meantime we have to soldier on. Any support or sponsorship would be most welcome. Call 01386 832084 or email enquiries@littletonfc.co.uk if you can help.
