Mid Comb Division 2 - The Squad

Above are the squad for 2002/2003. 4 of last season's players have moved on, Des Cox and Ian Hunt to Malvern Town, Bobby Deacon to Bretforton and Adam Moss to Evesham Utd. Littleton FC wish the 4 good luck with their new clubs and thanks for your efforts in winning promotion and several trophies last season. The new squad has many familiar faces and a few new ones. Andy Robins will give us a little information on them all shortly so keep checking this site.

Briefly from start to now (February 2003)

After a slow start the team quikly began to show their colours and stormed to the top of the table. Pre Christmas form was great and a run of games unbeaten made everyone think of promotion for a second year.
A lack of games during December, the Managers absence and an impressive 2nd half display by West Midlands Police, resulted in a defeat to start 2003.
Littleton had already reached the final of the Worcs County Cup (to be played in March) and were looking forward to the 2nd leg of the League Cup semi final. Taking their 2 - 0 advantage away to Earlswood Town, the fans were dreaming of a second final to attend. On a very muddy pitch, Earlswood won 2 - 0 and extra time was played. There were no goals and the result depended on a penalty shoot-out. Sadly Littleton lost 4 - 3 on penalties.
Recent League games against the Police at Home, and Fernhill County Sports away, were lost and a commanding top of the table position has slipped away at the moment.
Manager Andy Robbins has said that he is confident of a return to form, and winning ways, in the run to the end of the season.
Littleton Football Club are considering improvements at Five Acres in the form of a covered standing area, new ladies/gents toilets and a separate tea room for spectators. The application for Planning is in and we await the result. Obviously these facilities are dependent upon sufficient funds and an F.A. grant. Additional sponsorship and support is actively being sought. If you, or anyone you know, would like to help the Club please contact us.
With the end of the season fast approaching we have spoken to the Northwick Hotel and, subject to apporval of the committee, the annual Dinner and Presentation Night should take place on Friday 30th May. Contact us by email for further details and to book your place.
Finally, an apology for the lack of stories and the late updates of statistics/fixtures. We hope to provide more information more regularly from now on.

Can Littleton retain the Cup ?

15/3/03. The ship seems to have steadied with recent wins against Droitwich in the league, Bretforton in the Evesham Hospital Cup semi and Archdales in the league today.
However, suspensions and injury mean that the Manager, Andy Robbins, will be hard pressed to field 11 fit men in the County Cup Final on Wednesday 19th March at Worcester City's ground - KO 7.30 pm.
Opponents Bewdley Town are riding high in their division and will present tough opposition for Littleton. The lads will need every bit of support so we hope you can be there.
Hopes are still high for promotion, and we have the Evesham Hospital Cup Final to look forward to. The committee are pressing on with plans for the new stand and new toilets etc. The Portakabin is almost complete so that next seasons refreshments will be available in a more spacious environment.
Littleton Football Club is still in need of sponsorship and people to help so please contact us if you feel you have something to offer.

YES THEY CAN !!!!!!!!!!!

Against a strong Bewdley team, and with a much depleted side through injury etc., Littleton put in a magnificent performance to retain the Worcs F A Junior Cup on Wednesday 19th March winning
1 - 0 with a Nick Burrows goal. Manager Andy Robbins, together with assistants Tim Davies and Dean Speake, had prepared the team well and should be extremely proud of the style in which Littleton won.

Adam Moss in goal, Stu Sollis, Robbie Harris and Perry Beddoes at the back, Robbie Hands, Darren Reeves, Ady Wilde, Mark Gledhill and Matt Edwards across the middle, Phil Haines and Nick Burrows up front. Subs were Lee Rogers and Matt Cotton. It would be wrong to single out any one because they all gave outstanding performances.

Lets not forget those that helped to get the team there but were unable to play on the night - Billy Hiden, Chris Bate, Curtis Major.

Well done lads and many congratulations from Littleton FC committee and supporters.

Almost season's end.

Littleton beat top of the table Barnt Green in emphatic style and prvented them from receiving the Division 2 winners trophy. A superb performance which meant that Littleton could mathematically still win the Division and League Secretary Norman Harvey had to take the cup home that night. The win also meant that Littleton secured the runners up position, and promotion.
On Easter Monday Littleton went to Leamington and ground out a 1-0 victory while Barnt Green won at Droitwich and secured the Division Two winners spot.
A home game on Saturday 3rd May completes the League season but we still have the Evesham Hospital Cup Final on Saturday 17th May against Inkberrow. 6.30 pm Kick Off at Evesham United's Common Road ground.

Hospital Cup success

Littleton retained the Evesham Hospital Cup on Saturday 17th May at Evesham United's ground by beating Inkberrow 2 - 0.
Due to the very windy conditions this was not a pretty game but Littleton won comfortably with a first half strike from Curtis Major and a second half header from Darren Reeves.
The picture above shows the lads after being presented with their trophies by Graham Bartlett.

2 Cups and promotion

Another great season for Littleton Football Club as runners up in Division 2 of the Midland Com. Subject to approval of the ground improvements we should be promoted to Division 1 next season. Finishing second to Barnt Green Spartak was a great achievement, and only 3 points behind.
Retaining the Worcs County Junior Cup, and Evesham Hospital Cup, makes 2002/2003 another season to remember.
Manager Andy Robbins, his assistants Tim Davies and Dean Speake, and all of the players should be very proud. The committee of Littleton FC are, and congratulate everyone for their efforts both on and off the pitch. We should also mention the tremendous supporters, particularly those who regularly travel to away games as well.
A picture of the team, after receiving their Runners Up trophies and before the last game of the season, is below.
