An extract from a HMS Unicorn Newsletter
Its quiet now where once I stood Amid the noise of War Its fifty years ago since then When we landed on that shore
Raw boned youth called from afar With different tongues and build;
All full of deep devotion then, Not knowing who'd be killed
As I gaze out at that same old sea And remember once again, The pride of youth, the hearts of hope, That our cause was not in vain.
But now the years have rolled away And age its tale has told,
I think of those who had to stay, And who will not now grow old.
When will the suffering ever cease And humanity take control,
To give us back our dignity That I wish with all my soul.
