AUDIO NEWS FOR THE BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED
Every two weeks we record and send out tapes of local news items to blind and partially sighted people in Pershore and the surrounding area. This is an entirely free service and is organised by a group of around 40 volunteers.
Anyone who is blind, partially sighted or has difficulty reading the printed word for other reasons, may receive the tapes free of charge. Cassette machines can also be supplied.
Each recording involves a "team" of volunteers - three teams produce a tape each every six weeks. A team comprises of 4 readers, 1 news selector, 1 operating supervisor, 1 engineer (usually BBC trained), 2 copiers and 1 feature producer working independently of the teams.
At present we do have a full complement of readers and reserve readers, but we do need a reserve news selector, copiers and an operating supervisor. We are also looking for someone interested in recording features. |
