Bob Hale
Bob Hale started bowling in 1969 with Crown Inn in the Halesowen League and has stayed with the club ever since He has filled all committee posts with the exception of Treasurer and has been influential in the amalgamation of Aston Fields, Garringtons, Romsley and finally Stoke Prior Bowling Clubs with many original Crown Inn bowlers still together. A local born lad from Catshill who has won club averages numerous times and been successful in all the club competitions, in the past it was clear where Bob was going to bowl as he placed his beer on the fence in one of the corners, the cry from the opposition was keep him out of the corners we are informed he no longer drinks at matches or smokes which may be the reason his form has suffered or perhaps his eyes are not so good. |
Kelvin Wilson
Kelvin Wilson former President now Chairman and Captain of Yardley Wood 1st team born in Catshill he joined the club in the Crown Inn days. Has had success in club averages &competitions was 1st member to advocate female membership at the Crown to no avail. Julian Goodman
Julian Goodman began bowling while the club was at Romsley was elected as treasurer ,which he has tried to resign from ever since, but since taking the purse strings from Dave Caldicott, he inherited his somewhat Scrooge like ways, he is very much appreciated by the club for keeping such excellent accounts. He has enjoyed considerable success on the bowling green winning averages and club competitions albeit he has lost his hair over time. The son in law and brother in law of Derek and Gary Taylor who are sadly no longer with us he has introduced his wife and daughter to the game keeping the family involvement in the club. Another Catshill lad. |
