Pensioners campaign to keep their on site wardens

At the end of 2005 a small group of tenants of sheltered housing got together to discuss their concerns about Worcester Community Housing proposed changes to the wardens service.

These changes meant that the tenants would loose their on site wardens which raised many concerns and worries for them.
Meetings were held at sheltered schemes within Worcester and it was felt that the tenants that we spoke to had strong feelings about the change.
The small group has now grown to 80+ tenants attending regular meetings and continues to increase.

As a group we have now become affiliated members of the National Pensioners Convention and will continue in our campaign to the proposed changes and any other concerns pensioners of Worcestershire may have.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE AS A GROUP

1.Held meetings at sheletered schemes and listened to the tenants fears and concerns.

2. Handed in a petition to Mike Foster to pass onto Tony Blair.

3. Protesed outside Farrier House.

4. Held a meeting with WCH and board members (not that any board members attended).

5. Attended interviews with BBC Hereford & Worcester radio.

6. Correspondence with Worcester Evening News.

7. Become members of the NPC.
8. Shown WCH that pensioners will not just sit back and not be listened to.
