RESULTS 03/02/2008
1st race of the day was the Scratch race, for dogs who's weight is over 32lb.
The winner being Pat & Bobs 'Ebony' (Bigland Boy x Greyhound) the dog who I predicted last week! Well done Ebony and Congratulations to you both, finishing fast in second place was Nicks Where is The Love, third Tina's Blue Jay Way and fourth was Nick & Maria's Choose Me. A bit of bumping from the two younger dogs with the two older dogs showing maturity and pulling away towards the end.
Handicap racing next, heat 1 winner was Veuve Cliquot 29lb and 2nd place was Kinky Boots 21-2 (-2 for being a veteran, this dog gets a yard start for each year 5 years and over, therefore being 6 years old he gets a 2 yard advantage) Heat 2 winner was Fill Ur Boots 19 and second place was Danny 31, Nice to see Danny and owner Betty back racing, after Danny was attacked by a pet dog towards the end of last year, requiring stitches.
Lots of trials next with up and coming pups,
Alfie (Cracked It x Greyhound) went from the traps for the 1st time going well. It must have been the blood from where the excited pup bit his owner Micks finger! Princess (Oscars Pride x Rapid Stag) ran a good trial against Darlow Dart for young owner Bethany Gilbert. Alfie Jones (Outbound x Troubelle) trailed from the traps and should soon be ready for racing with the big guys Lurchers Billy and Flash had a run up and Flash won, (I think it was the fast slip I gave him) Greyhound Buster enjoyed his trial pouncing on the lure at the end. Finn (alias Spiderman, as hes all legs when trying to hold him) went out of the traps and chased the lure all the way, next step is to trail with another dog before being raced. And finally a trial for Daisy a pretty girl who was rescued by her mum and dad from a rescue home and loves everyone.
With a very bitter wind grateful thanks to lure man Kevin who only came to trial his pups. Cheers Kev
Last race of the day was the Handicap Final with the winner being Maria & Nicks Veuve Cliquot29lb (Vivs Quest x Simply Red), this bitch has run well ever since we started racing this season and has been close of the heels of Minty (the winner for the past two weeks), but this week proved to be her week. Well done Cliques. Second place was Mark & Andreas Fill Ur Boots 19 and third place went to kennel mate Kinky Boots 19. Fourth was Betty's Danny 31.
Sad news this week was the news that Kev Sutherland's great scratch dog Bully Beef (Bred by Kev Southall and Georgina)was injured last week while racing at Blidworth WRC by a loose dog, and was put to sleep. Our thoughts are with you Kev, Rest in Peace Sam. |
