About The Wyche and Colwall Horticultural Society
 | We pride ourselves upon the friendly atmosphere at our meetings and other events. Members are able to hear and meet 11 or 12 top class speakers drawn from all over the U.K. As a bonus, within our ranks, we have a number of professional horticulturalists and experienced gardeners, who are always willing to offer advice to fellow members. Our society has it's roots firmly in the gardening community on the western side of the Malvern Hills;but, has always attracted members from much further afield in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Lectures are held in Colwall Village Hall, usually on the first Monday in every month throughout the year. Guests are welcome to come along for the payment of a small fee. Tickets have to be purchased for The Percy Picton Memorial Lecture.
We evolved out of local support for The Wyche and Upper Colwall Home and Garden Show; first held as a holidays at home event in 1942. The show continues as our annual summer event. The only break being in 2001 due to Foot and Mouth Disease. In 2005 the show will be held in Colwall Village Hall on Saturday 13th August.
Each autumn the Percy Picton Memorial Lecture is given by a notable personality in the gardening world. The Percy Picton Memorial Fund is a registered charity, initiated by the society as a tribute to the work of their late president. The charity gives financial support to local students at Pershore Horticultural College. The 2005 lecture will be on Monday 3rd October, given by Charles Cheshire and about "The Story of the Japanese Tea Garden".
