January 2006

Thanks to Communigate we have been able to put together a comprehensive web site.

It would be nice to make full use of the facilities on offer and include messages sent in by members. Anything of gardening interest, places to visit, new plants or ideas. We can also include news of personal interest about members and their activities. Ideally, these items should be directly sent by e-mail and ought to be fairly short. If anyone would like to write something a bit longer we can consider it for inclusion on it's own page. Please send articles like this to Paul Picton, e-mail picton@dircon.co.uk

Our meetings are held on the first Monday of each month, in Colwall Village Hall, at 7.30pm unless stated otherwise. If you are not already a member you might like to come along to one of the monthly meetings to see if you like the look of us, and possibly join up there and then. Membership only costs £10 per year. Visitors are welcome to attend lectures for £2.50 admission.
As well as the lectures and visits there will be some plant sales at bargain prices and a joint seed order at a huge discount. Tea/coffee will be available before lectures, from 7.00 pm, giving time for a chat to friends or an opportunity to get some advice. We are fortunate in having many experienced and knowledgeable gardeners in our membership.

At our April meeting we will be holding our annual spring flowering bulb competition, for the Michael Jefferson-Brown memorial trophy. There are two classes:-
1. Flowering bulbs, corms or tubers growing in a container. 2 Vase or container of cut flowers grown from bulbs, corms or tubers. The competition is restricted to members of the society and each person is allowed one entry per class. Exhibits will be judged on quality and presentation. The trophy will be awarded to the best overall exhibit.
