Golden Jubilee
The jubilee weekend was a busy weekend for our young firefighters. It began on Saturday with a fete at Whittington, near Worcester. This warm day consisted mainly of young firefighters giving tours around the pump. It's surprising how many children want to sit in a fire engine.
Sunday was a big 1950's party in a stations drill yard. Everyone was asked to dress up and bring a plate of food. Those who made the effort looked fantastic, and as you can see the table was laden with all sorts of traditional 1950's goodies. After food, we joined in the games of yester-year such as three legged races, sack races and egg and spoon races. We even invited the parents to have a sack race of their own. (I think they had more practise first time around in the 1950's!!)I think everyone would agree it was an excellent day with a terrific atmosphere.
Monday was the annual Cutnall Green Gala, with less promising weather than last year. Several young firefighters became the proud owners of some new goldfish! Our display was greeted with the normal enthusiastic support and we treated the audience to an assault course consisting of an A-frame and targets this year. We then returned home when a heavy shower put an end to the afternoons fun.
I'm sure all would agree we celebrated the Queens Golden Jubilee with a great weekend. |
