OCAY - WHAT IS ADVOCACY
If you are over 50 and sometimes feel nobody is listening to you properly or you are daunted by dealing with organisations such as the health service or the council, then help is at hand. Older Citizens Advocacy York (OCAY) has been set up by older people for people like you to ensure that you have a voice which is heard. Advocacy simply means supporting people to speak up for themselves when there is something they want to say. Older Citizens Advocacy York (OCAY) can provide a lot of information about services, benefits and assessments. We can provide volunteer advocates to support you during interviews, health appointments or assessments, or simply to make sure your point of view is listened to and respected. The service at Older Citizens Advocacy York (OCAY) is free and confidential and independent of the statutory services such as the council, health and social services, which means we can challenge decisions if you are not happy with them. So if there is something you need to deal with but are unsure who can help, ask OCAY. No problem is too small. If it concerns you we will try to help. |
