How It Works
The emphasis is on a very supportive, friendly environment to allow you to develop at your own pace. |
The Programme
We run a 10 step programme to guide you through the elements of public speaking. Each stage focuses on a different aspect such as the “Use of gestures” or “Audience rapport”. Speeches are evaluated by an experienced member who will provide positive feedback to help you improve.
You will be able to give speeches in public long before you finish this programme and you are encouraged to speak outside the club as well as at our meetings. |
Topics
Another area and one you most likely fear the most is being asked to speak without warning or preparation. Our topics sessions are great at helping you here. At every meeting there is a topics session where a few members are asked to speak for 2-3 minutes on a subject.
|
Evaluations
After every speech or topic you are evaluated on your performance. A typical evaluation covers your strong points and will give some guidance in areas that could be improved.
|
And there’s more
The club can also help you with other skills including chairmanship, giving PowerPoint presentations and debating.
If you have any questions please contact our Publicity Officer, Lindsay Dutch on 01904 416308 or email dutchgl@aol.com.
