Just like Wimbledon!

A crane shot of SW19? No - it's Bish Tennis Club!

Just like Wimbledon, there are no adverts, no gimmicks, no distracting flap-doodle - just a desire to enjoy Tennis.... AND everything's painted dark green!

It's too late to enter Wimbledon this year - but come along and check out Bishopthorpe Tennis Club. We're a friendly, active Club who can get you started on the right road to the Championships NEXT year.... or maybe the year after that...? We're always in need of new team players.

Or if you're just looking to play Tennis with friendly folk without any pomp and circumstance - just a desire to enjoy a game in the Sunshine, then come along and try Bish.

You're welcome to join in on a couple of sessions to see if we're what you're looking for. Check out our Event Calendar or just come to either Monday Coaching (for Adults) or Thursday Clubnight, and enjoy some refreshing outdoor exercise. Hope to see you soon!

David Moore

David has recently gone into hospital. We hear that he'll be in York District (ward 16) for the next 2 weeks recovering from his surgery.

We all wish David a speedy and full recovery and hope he'll be back soon. Hurry up and get better, mate - you're sorely missed. (If you don't believe me - check out the Men's 2nd team page!)

Iain Mackie Trophy

Monday July 14th
7pm - £1 entry

The Iain Mackie Trophy is our special Tournament just for our regular Monday night Coaching attendees. There's a Trophy for the winners - but don't be alarmed! It's a friendly competition where you'll be playing doubles, alongside and against all the same people you've been training with all Season. It's all about having some fun, and having a chance to show what you've learnt so far!

There's no Coaching that evening - so no £2 - but you are asked to bring £1 to cover the cost of new balls. Check out last year's inaugural event. If you're a Monday-nighter, then it's certainly not to be missed.

Hope to see you all you Monday-nighters there!

Thursday Clubnight

Spot the ball competition - in the evening sunshine...it can only be Clubnight

Thursday evenings are for mix-in Social Tennis at Bishopthorpe. Clubnight is from 6pm. From means that the Courts are allocated to adult members from 6pm. People arrive in dribs and drabs after work between 6 and 7.

So, if you do arrive early and find you're the only one there - try practicing your serves for 20 minutes with the balls in the Clubhouse. It'll do wonders for your game and will pass the time quickly until a playing partner arrives.

Please remember that not everyone can get home, get turned around, and out on Court for 6pm - every week!
