Guard's Groan's

I have lost count of the number of times that people living in the york area have said they did not know that the Derwent Valley Light Railway existed.
We are located within the grounds of the Yorkshire Museum of Farming which is just off the A166 road to Bridlington. We are a small friendly bunch who try to run the 1/2 mile of line to the enjoyment of anybody who visits us.
We do not have any "large" engines but, unlike some bigger heritage lines not to far away from york,we usuallydo have time to spend to speak to our visitors.
The line is run on Sundays from easter,1030am -4 or 4.30pm dependent on visitors still on site, until the last Saturday in September and on most bank holiday Mondays during this period.Admission is carged at the entrance to the museum and no extra charge is made for however many trips you make on the railway but you are quite to make a donation to our upkeep of the line in any of our donation boxes.
During December we do run Santa Specials starting on the first Saturday in December.
For further details of the D.V.L.R. please visit our web site at www.dvlr.org.uk.
For further details of the santa specials or admission charges please call the museum on 01904489966.
