Flecknor - A strange name that must have a history

I have started to research the family name of Flecknor in the last year.

Coming from the North of England there is only myself and my father who carry the name.
Limited research has found the name currently appearing in Northamptonshire, Australia & Canada.

My earlist record of this spelling of the name appears in Germany in circ 1645. The Fleckner name appears around the same time in Germany, Denmark & Norway. The Fleckner name currently appears in the UK, Europe and widely in America.

What little I know does show that my Great-Great Grandfather came from Brigstock in Northamptonshire in the late 1870's to work in the Iron Stone Mines north of Whitby in North Yorkshire.

Here we remain!

Parish record's from the early 1800's show that Flecknor may have become Fleckner. Easy to do depending on how you say the name.

Any information on other location the name may be located will be more than welcome.

I am of course willing to share what little research I have with anyone who has a similar interest or name.
