A FANTASTIC VOYAGE

At the end of September, 1852, after tree months sailing from Germany, the Ship "Victoria" arrived at the small port of Corral, Chile.

The vessel begun its voyage from the German port of Hamburgo. Embarking were two families. One consisted of Friedrich Geisse Haas, a Protestan Pastor, his wife and childrens. The other was the family of Wilheim (Guillermo) Whilheim Geisse Haas, a Lawyer, his second wife and childrens. In all, the two families totaled approximately 20 persons.

In order to reach the chilean port of Corral, the "Victoria" had first to cross the Atlantic Ocean then follow all down the South America coast before enter the zone of the dangerous and infamous "Cabo de Hornos".

On the Pacific Ocean side , the vessel sailed northwards until she reached her final destination: a little port of Corral.

On this new land, so far from Germany, the two Geisse Haas families hoped to find a better life.

Two years before, in 1850, another Geisse Haas brother had arrived to this small port of Corral, with all his family. He was Justo Geisse Haas, a businessman, who stableshed his home in the city of Osorno, at the southern region of the country, were he opened a store to work in his commerce activities.

Close to Osorno, in the southern Llanquigue region of Chile, were located, by the chilean goberment, the families of Friedrich and Wilheim Geisse Haas. There, they begun working in country activities. On that locality extend his beautifull waters the Llanquigue lake.
