Welcome to the web site of the York Railway Institute Golden Rail Brass Band.
We have vacancies for brass players.
Players with a little experience will be welcomed into the Golden Rail Band, a fourth section non-contesting band, always busy with a variety of engagements. We rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays (6.30 - 8.00pm)
Also based in the band room is the Railway Institute Band, a contesting band suitable for players with a higher level of competence. They meet Tuesdays and Thursdays ( 8.00- 10.00pm)
All rehearsals for all the groups are held in the Band Room behind the Railway Institute. on Queen Street, York. (Close to the railway station) There is free parking next to the band room.
We offer a congenial atmosphere in which to learn and develop instrumental skills and musicianship. We are proud that ex-members have moved on into the top ranks of brass banding, military music and professional orchestral work.
Instruments are avaliable for loan to band members.
