Easingwold v Heworth 9th March League
Easingwold v Heworth 9th March League.
Heworth played down hill in the first half. After having had most of the play, in the 10th minute Luke Goldthorpe put a ball through for Tommo to run on to, but his shot went just past the post. After more pressure, Heworth eventually took the lead in the 15th minute when Liam Wingfield passed the ball to Luke Goldthorpe. The first shot was saved but he scored from rebound. Heworth were still playing well but missing chances in front of goal; Tommo and Luke both went close. Dan kept coming out of his area to foil the Easingwold forwards, and he didn’t have a shot to save until the 18th minute. Against the run of play, Easingwold scored with a shot that went in (just under the bar) in the 21st minute. This seemed to bring Easingwold to life, as a minute later they could have taken the lead when one of their forwards missed an open goal. Dan immediately pulled off a great save flicking the ball over (from just under the bar). Heworth had most of the play up to half time, but poor finishing and good goalkeeping from Easingwold kept the half-time score to 1-1.
Heworth started the second-half well, playing up hill. Tommo had a shot that brought a good save from the Easingwold keeper, who again pulled off a brilliant save from Rich Walton a minute later. In the 41st minute Nick Elsom was booked for running into an Easingwold player on the halfway line. In the 48th minute Heworth took the lead, when Matty Fairclough played the ball through to Tommo (who was a couple of yards offside), he rounded the keeper and scored. In the 60th minute Easingwold scored. One of their players was 2 yards offside when the ball was cleared over the halfway line. Dan started to come out of his area, but then decided to go back. The Easingwold player ran on to the ball, and scored. A couple of minutes later Easingwold took the lead when one of their players took the ball down the left wing and crossed for the centre forward to score. In the 63rd minute Asa came on for Luke, then George came on for Ian. In the 67th minute Matty Fairclough scored from a Liam Wingfield corner to level the scores at 3-3. In the last minute the referee didn’t spot an Easingwold player a yard offside, and he went through and scored to make the final score 4-3 to Easingwold. The referee had a poor game and after the match gave Matty Fairclough a red card for something he said. Heworth would have won quite comfortably had it not been for some excellent saves from the Easingwold keeper and some poor refereeing decisions. |
