History of the Band Club
 | The first re-union of the club was held at Wakefield Drill Hall in 1979 and followed in 1980 by another. In 1981 the Band of The 2nd Bn The Light Infantry returned from a two year posting in Gibraltar to be stationed at Weeton Camp in Lancashire, just a few miles from the sights and sounds of Blackpool, it was then that the link with Blackpool was formed. The Bandmaster at the time WO1 Jack Leeming and the Band Sergeant Major WO2 Tony Truscott organised a weekend get-together in their band accommodation which proved so popular that it was unanimously agreed that an annual event should take place. Frank Chapman was proprietor of a suitable small hotel in Blackpool at the time and was able to accommodate and feed us all for several years until his retirement. And so it has continued, each year around the end of April/beginning of May friends old and new with their wives and, often, family members meet at a suitable location where stories are re-told, events recalled and a good time is had by all.
The Club President is Mick Fozzard and his details along with the details of our members are shown on the following pages. |
