 | Old Valparaiso has many Bars, (Colled "Cantinas") like this showed in the picture. Here, some bohemes resident joined to drink and play music.
They were acting in the same way people act to day,kepping many of such bohemes traditions.

THE BAY AFTER 1906 EARTHQUAKE
 | In August 16 of the year 1906 a gigant earthquake (over 8 point Ritcher Scale) struck over Valparaiso.
The city was almost entire destroyed. |

THE BAKERMEN AT THE STREET
 In old Valparaiso, every morning the bakermen was selling the bread in the street. |

 | | This kind of animal transportation was the regular system to bring all the product from the country to the city. |

THE FIRST VALPARAISO CHURCH
 | Iglesia La Matriz, was the first church at Valparaiso. It is cosidered the started point of the city. It was builted during the Spanish Colonial Era.
La Matriz Church is also a classical point of historic reference to the study of the Valparaio past. |

FAMOUS RELOJ TURRI
 The Turri clock is sited at the top of this singular building.
The "Reloj Turri" is very famous all along Valparaiso.
To many people, the building evocate a ship sailing omto th port. |
A LONG, LONG, LONG, STAIR.
 Before the year 1883, when the first Valparaso elevator was instaled, the people had to use stairs to go up the hills, were they have been builded his houses.
The port had thousand and thousand of such stairs, some of them not to large, but many very, very long.
When you are going up on this large stairs you feel like going up to the sky or to some another unkown place. On the way up you can see the interior of he house, the patios were the kids are playing, and the dogs ad cats living with the familys.
When you finish the way up on the stair you can look back to the bay and discover many ships sited at the Valparaiso rada.

ESMERALDA STREET
 | | Esmeralda Street os one of the main and most traditional street of Valparaiso. |

TRADITIONAL CONDELL STREET
 Like many other street of Valparaiso, Condell Srteet is part of the rich past of the port.
We can see on the pictue, taked about 1834, the life of the city. The kind of tansportation and some of the inhabitants.
Valparaiso was a florished city at the middle of the 19 Century, when many european communities arrived at the famous Pacific Port to make bussines. At that time, the people of Valparaiso were speaking more eglish than spanish. |
VALPARAISO CLASICAL STREET
 | From the old time until to day, Calle Condell (Condell Street) has been one of most famous place of the city.
If you look carefully, you can see a poor person sleeping at the street in the same way they live today in many contemporary citys. |

LOOKING A LITTLE LIKE TOLEDO
 | Some time Valparaiso can evocate other citys.
Looking at the image one could think we are at Toledo in Spain, but this is only another corner of the magnificent and magical city of Valparaiso.

THE OLD " TEATRO VICTORIA"
 | The old "Teatro Victoria" was the arena for the starting point of many famous actress of the old Valparaso.
During the 19 century the city was animated with many artistic spectacules, many arrived form Europe.
Today, the "Teatro Victoria" does not exist but his remmembrance bring a nostalgic feeling of the Valparaiso most golden times. |

Valparaiso have been famous for his continues fires. The main part of houses and building are done of wood.
Valparaiso has two live with two big calamities: The continuos earthquekes the continuos fires. |

To day, you can send a postal by e-mail, but yestarday it had to travell by months troght the ocean to reach his destinity.
