Rotary is the world's largest service organisation with over a million members in 30,000 clubs in 163 countries of the world. In Britain and Ireland alone there are some 60,000 members in nearly 2000 clubs, who help those in need both in their own countries and in the wider world.
York Rotary Club was established in 1921 and has around 90 members. It is involved in a wide range of community activities and enjoys good fellowship among club members. York Rotary mounts the
The York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge over a stretch of the River Ouse in the City Centre - a fun day for all the family and an excellent way of supporting a local charities. Around �60,000 is raised every year for local charities. In 2007, 36 teams took part and the nominated charities were "Woodlands MS Respite Care Home, York Wheels, and the Salvation Army York Homeless Project. The chosen charity for 2008 is the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. See the separate page for further details.
The club meets
every Friday at 12.40 p.m. at Churchill's Hotel, 65, Bootham, York (Tel 01904 644456) and visiting Rotarians are most welcome at our meetings.
