1872

Extensive restorations were carried out (G.E.Street for Sir Tatton Sykes). The screens and ornaments, including the fine statue of Saint Andrew and the Blessed Sacrament Banner were placed in the Church. The roof was raised to its original pitch, revealing the opening into the ringing chamber. It is an excellent wagon-type roof finely decorated.

The north wall had to be rebuilt, using the original stones for the most part, carefully numbered as they were taken down. In everything the original beauty of Norman building has been retained.. The Church was reopened for worship on 11th April 1872, by Archbishop Thomson.
