Beyond our walls
Our ecumenical commitment is through TOUCH (Tang Hall and Osbaldwick Churches Together). Our partners in this are St Hilda's (C of E), and St Aelred's (R.C.) in Tang Hall, St Thomas's (C of E) in Osbaldwick and York Community Church which meets in both localities.
The churches come together for a monthly evening service and other activities including The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, a weekly lunch and study group during Lent, a walk of witness on Good Friday, an outdoor event at Pentecost and a harvest thanksgiving and supper at Murton Agricultural museum. A prayer group meets at 9 a.m. on Thursdays.
Fair Trade We have a concern for the World Church and its peoples. One expression of that is that we are committed to being a Fair Trade church, serving only fairly traded tea and coffee and, where possible, other foods. A stall is held on the first Sunday of the month with opportunity to place advance orders in the previous week. Encouragement is given to publicising fair trade issues and city activities during Fair Trade fortnight.
