Castlegarth Tennis Club

The Castlegarth Tennis Club is actually situated in Wetherby.

To get there, you've a choice of the B1224 Wetherby Road, or a combination of the A64 turning RIGHT onto the A659 through Boston Spa, or joining the A1.

If travelling on the B1224, you can then either turn off SOUTH onto the A1, or brave it through Wetherby Town Centre.

If driving through Town, follow the (now) York Road as it merges into North Street. Turn right before you come to the River, into Cross Street, then it's a quick LEFT and then RIGHT into Castle Gate.

It's probably better to turn off the B1224 onto the A1, and simply follow that SOUTH, until you come to the turn-off for the A58. Turn RIGHT at the Roundabout and travel NORTH along Boston Road. Once over the RIVER, turn LEFT into Market Place, and SECOND LEFT into Castle Gate, then LEFT into Scott Lane.

Better still is to approach from the SOUTH along the A1, turning off onto Boston Road, over the RIVER, then LEFT into Market Place and then SECOND LEFT into Castle Gate, and LEFT into Scott Lane.
The Courts are right on the Riverside - don't drive past them!

Cawood Tennis Club

Simple.....take the Cawood road. First exit the A64 by-pass at the A19 Selby turn-off.

Turn left off the slip-road roundabout, and then take the first left onto the B1222 CAWOOD ROAD.

Floor it all the way to Cawood.

As you enter Cawood, you cross the river, and then you bear sharp left at the crossroads, into THORPE LANE.

Follow the road round a sharp righthand bend, and then take the next left into WISTOWGATE which is the B1223 SELBY ROAD.

Then it's first right into MAYPOLE GARDENS, bearing right toward the end of the cul-de-sac, where you take the last left up the narrow lane to the Tennis Courts and Cricket Ground.

Civil Service

The CSSC site on the A59 Boroughbridge Road, is no more. 'Civil Service' now play at the All Saints School site off Albermarle Road. (It used to be 'Mill Mount' School).

From the top of The Mount, there's a continuous wall on the 'north' side of Albermarle Road. Look for the gap in the wall, which is the entrance to All Saints School and there's a small Car Park there.

You can get to Albermarle Road off the Tadcaster Road - the A1035, or from the Bishopthorpe Road.

Cliffe

Copmanthorpe Tennis Club

Considering Copmanthorpe is our next door neighbour, it can be way complicated to get there from Bishopthorpe.

The easiest route is to head South out of Bish on the APPLETON ROAD, and then dog-leg right where it's signposted to Copmanthorpe, and drive up TEMPLE LANE.

Another route is to get onto the TADCASTER ROAD via SIM BALK LANE. Drive straight ahead and join the A64 going West. Exit at the junction with the A1237 Ring-Road. On the slip road off the A64 is a right turn signposted to Copmanthorpe down MANOR HEATH.

A similar way is to get onto the TADCASTER ROAD heading South as before, but turn right at the lights by the petrol station, and then left under the bridge at the next set of lights after that.

This manoeuvre takes you under the A64 carriageway and through onto TOP LANE in Copmanthorpe.

Approaching along TEMPLE LANE (at the bottom), you cross the bridge over the Railway Line. Before the bridge has even levelled out, you turn right into BARON'S CRESCENT or ST. GILES' WAY (doesn't matter).

Turn right - signposted 'RECREATION CENTRE' - and follow BARON'S CRESCENT round until you see the entrance to the Centre just before MALBYS GROVE.

From MANOR HEATH, you just drive straight ahead, following the road as it dog-legs first left, then right. You pass the shops and Post Office on your left, as the road becomes MAIN STREET.

Turn Left into ST. GILES' WAY, and left again into BARON'S CRESCENT. Follow the Crescent round until you see the RECREATION CENTRE immediately after MALBYS GROVE.

Coming along TOP LANE, after it emerges from beneath the A64, take the 2nd left into HORSEMAN LANE. At the junction at the end, bear left onto MAIN STREET, past the shops and Post Office.

Just past the triangular green, turn left into into ST. GILES' WAY, and left again into BARON'S CRESCENT. Follow the Crescent round until you see the RECREATION CENTRE immediately after MALBYS GROVE.

The CAR PARK is to the front of the Recreation Centre. The 3 Tennis Courts (and the Tennis Club proper) are at the rear of the site, behind the two buildings facing the Car Park.
