Heworth Tennis Club

The Club   Heworth Tennis Club is a friendly tennis club situated next to 90 East Parade in Heworth York, half a mile from the city centre, with on street car parking.  All standards of players, including juniors, are welcome and there are opportunities for match play. Whilst we all try to win and we have several successful teams, the emphasis is on fun and we do not take ourselves too seriously!   Facilities   We have two all-weather hard courts, floodlit for winter evening play, and a clubhouse.  Individual junior and senior coaching is available from an LTA qualified coach.  Combined junior coaching sessions take place on Friday evenings during the summer.   Membership (y/e 30/4/2003)   Different types of membership are available.  Full adult (£50). Off-peak (to 6 PM Mondays to Fridays - £25).  Family (1 full adult member plus children - £60).  Local/visiting student (£17/£12). Junior (£12). Junior members are up to 18 years of age and must be supervised by an adult).   Playing times   General organised club play is usually on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday/Thursday evenings.  Organised junior sessions are held on Friday evenings during the spring and summer. Home matches are usually played on some Mondays and Wednesday evenings and on some Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings during the spring and summer, but when no home matches are arranged these times and other times are available for all club players (including juniors under supervision).     Matches   We have teams in division 5 of the York and District Mixed League (winners of division 6 in 2002); Division 4 York Ladies’ League (winners of division 5 in 2002); and York Men's League.  Members of appropriate standard are very welcome to play.   Social events   In the last year or so, we have enjoyed a Christmas party, summer disco/social, summer fete, barbecues, junior and senior tournaments, fun tournaments and a lottery.
