THE MONDAY PLAYERS, ESCRICK
It was early December 1993 when a small band of players, supported by an equally enthusiastic production team, staged Alan Ayckbourn's Season's Greetings. Leaving aside music hall and pantomime, it was the first time live theatre had exceeded 15 minutes on Escrick's modest village hall stage!
And so The Monday Players were formed.
Since 1993 our membership has grown. But if you are interested in performing or being part of our production teams - set construction, electrics, lighting, sound, publishing or just helping to make a welcome cup of tea at a rehearsal, please give our Chairman a ring on 01904 449541. We have added an enormous number of productions to our repertoire embracing serious drama, comedy, farce and costume drama, along with several cabaret evenings. They include, among many others: When we are Married (J B Priestley); The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery (David McGullivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr); Stepping Out (Richard Harris); Last Tango in Whitby (Mike Harding); Blithe Spirit (Noel Coward); Joking Apart (Alan Ayckbourn); Daisy Pulls it Off (Denise Degan). 'Allo 'Allo (Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft), Lord Arthur Savile's Crime (Constance Cox based on a short story by Oscar Wilde), Witness For The Prosecution (Agatha Christie), Party Piece (Richard Harris), Outside Edge (Richard Harris), Caramba's Revenge (William Norfolk), Comic Potential (Alan Ayckbourn) and soon, Angels in Love, by Hugh Mills |
