Big Breakfast on Friday 30th March!
 | The Spurriergate Centre invites you to help Third World food producers by tucking in to the most important meal of the day at a BIG BREAKFAST on Friday 30th March at 8.15am. to be attended by City of York MP Hugh Bayley.
On the menu will be fairly traded bananas, barbecued with rum sauce, as well as cereals, tea, coffee, jams and honey. All accompanied by ethnic world drumming to really wake you up!Tickets for the big breakfast are FREE and are available from the Centre, but numbers are strictly limited, so hurry!
The breakfast aims to raise awareness of the issue of Fairtrade, which is about giving a better deal to the Third World producers of foods such as coffee, tea, cocoa, sugar, honey, chocolate and bananas; and the Fairtrade Mark is now available on more than 80 products. Hugh Bayley will be saying a few words and also in attendance will be representatives from Traidcraft and other Fairtrade outlets in York.
"One of the Spurriergate Centre’s aims is to encourage justice in trading - in the price, quality and origin of the goods it sells - which is why we came up with this fun way to tell people about Fairtrade" said Joan Sargent, the Centre’s Pastoral Co-ordinator.
