Very Tiring but Positive Weekend
This is the first time that Wetherby Gymnastics Club have been invited to take part in this invitational competition. As many as 450 gymnasts took part over the weekend and with a 5 hour journey to Maidstone and back it was an exhausting event.
Wetherby were represented by 7 gymnasts in various age groups.
Alice Morbey 98/99 category - Performed confidently at her first competition outside the region. Alice was one of only two girls to attempt giants on bars and achieved a very impressive silver medal on Beam. Alice placed ninth overall.
Natalia Woods 96 category -Performed with confidence and without error to achieve tenth position overall.
Laura Smith 96 category - Also her first competition outside the region. Laura had her supporters on the edge of their seat during her bar routine and successful competed giants for the first time. Laura Placed 17 overall.
Kate Lees 94/95 category - Amazed us all by performing her first Tsuki vault in competition and she landed on her feet! Wow! Kate placed ninth on vault and seventh overall.
Victoria lofts 94/95 category - Performed with confidence and style. Very secure and well performed bars and received a sixth place overall medal.
Louise Berry 94/95 category - Performed with confidence and competed a full twist on floor for the first time.Louise was very pleased with her giant backaway to land on her feet and placed ninth overall.
Eva Nobbs 93+ category - Performed 4 clean routines to win the competition. Achieving first on vault and beam, second on bars and third on floor.
A very positive weekend for all. A big thank you to Paul Berry for Judging such a Marathon event and the club looks forward to next years invitation. |
