A64 (Scarborough) to the top of Whitwell Hill, then turn right to Kirkham Abbey.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Howsham (Barnfield).

MOW.

Beyond (Opposite the Hall) section (see below).

From road, follow track past the barn, and across the railway (taking great care), down to the river. Section extends both ways.

Park neatly at roadside without blocking road. Can also be accessed from Kirkham Abbey end.

------------------------------------------------------------

Howsham (Opposite the Hall).

MOW.

From above Crambe Grange water (directly opposite the Hall) to the bottom of the (Barnfield) section.

Please note : from the weir to the golf course field (inclusive) is now privately owned fishing, therefore the pegs along that stretch are not to be used by York Amalgamation members.

Parking at roadside, again, without blocking the road. Access to the water is by the left hand side of the hedge, down to the river. Path along riverside of fence to the pegs.

A64 (Scarborough) to Howsham right turn (Caravan sales business on corner), then follow the road taking left turn, just before staggered crossroads. Follow this road to the fence opposite Howsham Hall school, (other side of river, but visible), where York "Board" is placed. For Barnfield section, continue along this road until you see a stone barn in a field on the right.

------------------------------------------------------------

Howsham Bridge.

MOW.

From falls above bridge (4 pegs), to Barton Hill Beck, below the bridge (11 pegs). There may be a Bull in the field below the bridge.

Parking either side of road at nearside of bridge.

Access as for Howsham (Opp Hall), but continue past staggered crossroads to the Bridge.

------------------------------------------------------------

Stamford Bridge to Kexby.

DTW. NFA.

This stretch is approximately four miles in length, comprising of Stamford Bridge, Scoreby and Kexby (Above).

Parking for Stamford Bridge and Scoreby, either at Stamford Bridge car park, then cross back over bridge and walk down river, or at the field past the Water Treatment works, before Stamford Bridge. No access via Scoreby Lane. Kexby parking, use the old road bridge at Kexby, crossing the road via the stile and walking up river. No fishing for first 100 yards here.

For Stamford Bridge and Scoreby, take A166 through Gate Helmsley and past the Scoreby Lane turnoff. At cottages on right, turn right down the road and follow it to the entry gates for the Water Treatment Works. There is a track on the right here which leads to the field for parking in. Over the stile and down the field to the river. The upstream top peg is the "Stinky Beck". Walking downstream, Scoreby can be found through the 'wood', starting at the top of the 'rough' field above the sandbed. (This is another long walk). Continue into Stamford Bridge for public car park.

For Kexby, take the A1079 (Hull) road, to Kexby, pull off to right onto the "old bridge" for parking.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Left Hand Bank.

Stamford Bridge.

DTW. NFA.

2nd and 3rd fields below Stamford Bridge.

Park in public car park and walk downstream

A166 from York to Stamford bridge, and over the bridge to the right.

------------------------------------------------------------

Howsham (Paradise Farm).

MOW.

From Howsham Bridge to Paradise Farm, approximately three quarters of a mile.

Park at Howsham Bridge.

Access as for Howsham Bridge (see above, on right bank).

------------------------------------------------------------

Sutton-on-Derwent.

(Sections 45 a/b/c/d).

DTW.

Aprroximately one and a half miles above the weir, and two and a half miles below the weir. Jointly held with Leeds & District Amalgamated society of Anglers.

A private car park for members is provided, on the right, adjacent to the river between the road bridge (approaching from Elvington), and the water mill.

Further access is available in Sutton Village and at the bottom of the water. Boundaries are defined between sections, by notice boards. "A" section is upstream of the bridge, starting the 'boat' field and continuing past Elvington water treatment works - walk from the car park, over the stile next to the bridge and walk upstream. "B", "C" and "D" sections (30 pegs each) are downstream of the mill, beyond the mill race, turn right from the car park, walk to the left turn in the road and over the stile to the water.
