Coming into hospital is like stepping into another world:-

As a Patient
Your daily routine is put on hold
You may not feel in control
Days can seem long; nights difficult

As a Relative
Anxiety about a loved one can cloud your thoughts.

Much time can be spent waiting:
For news
For medical or surgical procedures
To know what the next step may be

On Occasions
Feelings can become overwhelming
We search for meaning in the experience in a way we may never have before

Such questions are sometimes called "spiritual issues" and dealing with them forms an important part of recovery.

You may find it helpful to talk.
Chaplains are available irrespective of whether you have an active religious faith or none.

The Chaplains

Visit the Wards regularly
Respond to requests for visits
Give pastoral and spiritual support to patients, carers and staff
Maintain contacts with leaders of other faith communities
Provide information on religious/cultural requirements

We are
Employed by the Trust
Concerned for the spiritual welfare of everyone in the hospital - whether you have an active religious faith or not

We offer
A listening ear
Counsel
Time
Prayer
Friendship
Sacraments
